Fine to speak on ‘Voting Rights and the 2012 Elections”

Dr. Terri Susan Fine will speak at Temple Israel in Winter Springs on Saturday, Jan. 28, following the regularly scheduled Shabbat service. The topic will be “Voting Rights and the 2012 Elections:  Who Gaines, Who Loses, Who Cares?”

Once every 20 years, redistricting and presidential elections coincide. The 2012 election is critically important because it is the first presidential election cycle that falls in the same year as redistricting since the fateful 2000 election that held particular impact in Florida. Fine will discuss the voting rights changes put into place at the national and state levels and how this “perfect storm” will impact the 2012 presidential election cycle.

Fine, is a professor of political science at the University of Central Florida, associate director and a senior Fellow at the Lou Frey Institute of Politics and Government, and a Schusterman Fellow at Brandeis University. She also is a columnist for the Heritage Florida Jewish News.

Community members are invited to attend this free presentation of the Adult Education Committee of Temple Israel chaired by Laurence Morrell.
