  • Harvey, Irma and 9/11, we can replace the stuff

    Dr. Glenn Mollette|Sep 22, 2017

Hurricane Harvey and Irma have been bad news to all in their paths. Lives have sadly been lost, houses demolished and personal items blown or washed away. Such horrific acts of nature remind us that we are all fragile and vulnerable. The right wind and rain can wash everything away including us and people we love so much. We love our stuff. We store it. We hoard it. We want to pass it on to our children and grandchildren. There are storage facilities being built almost everywhere in America because we love our stuff so much. Harvey and Irma rem...

  • President Trump said, "They are losers"

    Dr. Glenn Mollette|Jun 2, 2017

President Trump has renamed terrorists from monsters to losers. I agree. People such as 22-year-old Salman Abedi who contrive to inflict such a heinous act as the carnage he recently inflicted in Manchester, England, is the worst of pathetic world losers. Abedi joins now a long list of scum who are so disconnected from rational thinking and healthy emotions that they are filled with hatred resentment of normal life loving people who simply want a night out on the town such as an Ariana Grande concert. In the case of Alyssa Elsman of Portage,...

  • Trump's Inauguration- Ugly American rancor

    Dr. Glenn Mollette|Jan 27, 2017

By the time you read this column the Inauguration may be over. Like it not Donald Trump is your president. Even if you claim he is not your president—he is. If you continue your citizenship in America he is your president. I heard and read reports of people who said they would leave the United States if Trump were elected president. How many have left or when are they leaving? Don’t let the door hit you on the behind when you leave. Actually, that’s not the attitude to have. The correct attitude is, “Come on people now love one another,” or som...

  • Killing in America

    Glenn Mollette|Jul 22, 2016

I don’t know how to write a column on this theme except to say, stop, stop, please stop the killing. Killing somebody is the not the answer. Killing people because of race, gender, religion, or for any reason under the sun is wrong. Killing does not eliminate problems. Killing does not solve family or neighborhood squabbles. Yet, we kill all the time. America is a nation of killers. We’re all about killing, killing and killing. Do we want to start counting all the people killed in all the wars just in the last couple of hundred years? How many...

  • America cannot win with racist attitudes

    Glenn Mollette|May 9, 2014

For the rest of his life Donald Sterling will be remembered for racist remarks even though they were made in private. Paula Deen and Cliven Bundy will also be remembered for their racist remarks, as will Don Imus. Imus made on air comments in 2007 about the Rutger’s women’s basketball team. Regardless of all the good any individual may have done in life it only takes one racist remark to dismantle an entire kingdom. I thought Joan Rivers really sounded stupid on April 22 when she appeared on the Today Show and compared staying in her dau...

  • Syria-tired yet?

    Glenn Mollette|Sep 27, 2013

I suspect you are already tired of hearing about Syria. The future path is blurry—even to our president. Assad will still be in power. How many has he killed without chemical weapons? Who is using the chemical weapons? It sounds to me like the real problem is the one issuing the orders in Syria. Americans are now on the verge of committing billions of dollars of money we do not have to impact an area of the world that already hates us. Here at home we have millions who cannot find a job. We have millions more who cannot feed their families w...
