Joyce E. Demers, age 89, of Altamonte Springs, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Island Lake Life Center in Longwood. Mrs. Demers was born on April 14, 1931, in Ilion, New York, a daughter of the late George Leander Rockerfeller and Elsie Miriam Brown Rockerfeller. A homemaker and CNA, she was the wife of Charles Demers, her husband of over 58 years who survives her. The family relocated to the Orlando area in 1977 from Port Service, New York. Matilda Levin of Longwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Serenades at Longwood. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Levin was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Oct. 13, 1921, to the late Benjamin and Rose Bass Rutkin. A high school graduate, she was a homemaker and the widow of the late Harold Levin, who passed away in October 2011. Locally, Mrs. Levin is survived by her son, Norman (Marlene) Levin, of Longwood. Oklahoma’s governor signs anti-Israel boycott legislation By Marcy Oster (JTA) — Oklahoma can no longer contract with companies that boycott Israel. On Tuesday, Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, signed a bill that would apply to state contracts over $100,000, unless the company is officially exempted by the Oklahoma secretary of state.
