Dr. Amsterdam, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., was born on Oct. 16, 1918, to the late Joseph and Dorothy Davidow Amsterdam. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with his bachelor’s degree and his medical degree. He also did post-graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania.
