SOJC plans Holocaust Memorial at synagogue

The Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation is inviting everyone to submit their family’s stories of both loss and survival from the Nazi Holocaust of WWII. “We at SOJC want everyone to remember history’s lessons in order to avoid repetition and hope to do so by remembering those who were lost and celebrating the stories of survival through a Holocaust Memorial exhibit being constructed for permanent display at SOJC by an aspiring Eagle Scout of Troop 996,” an event planner says. “We invite you to join in this important project by sharing your family’s story with us, which may then be considered for inclusion in this exhibit.”

SOJC is seeking email photos and details of where, when and how family members survived as well as their relationship to you and other survivors.

In addition, SOJC is accepting donations for the Charter Sponsors to the Holocaust Memorial if donated on or before Sept. 1. Plaques with the Charter Sponsors’ names will be exhibited next to the Holocaust Memorial at SOJC.

For any questions, contact SOJC at 407-239-5444 or email office@sojc.org.

The event planners adds, “Please take this opportunity to offer your story as a tribute to the resilience and pride of the survivor and the Jewish community where it will be proudly and permanently displayed on this Holocaust Memorial at no cost to you.”
