Obituary - DR. ALAN JEFFREY SAFFRAN

Alan Jeffrey Saffran, M.D., of Winter Park, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Orlando Regional Medical Center—Orlando. He was 53 years old. Dr. Saffran was born in New York City, on July 30, 1960, to Dolores Shapiro Saffran of Boca Raton and the late Murray Saffran. He attended high school at Bronx High School of Science and received a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University. He then attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and earned his medical degree. Dr. Saffran did his residency at the University of Virginia. In 1990, following his residency, he relocated to the Orlando area and began his medical practice.

Dr. Saffran married the former Pamela Thompson, his wife of 19 years, who survives him. They became parents of three children who survive him, Miles and Nathaniel, students at Trinity Prep, and Ella, a student at Park Maitland. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce (Elaine) Saffran of Forest Hills N.Y.

Funeral services were held at Congregation Ohev Shalom with Rabbi Aaron Rubinger officiating followed by interment at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. The family requests contributions to Crossout Cancer, an organization to combat cancer established by his daughter, Ella, 471 Virginia Drive, Winter Park 32789.
