Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
Jewish National Fund (JNF)’s Women for Israel (WFI) will host “A Night at the Museum” at Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College, located at 1000 Holt Avenue, 2765 in Winter Park, on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Ena Heller, director of the gallery, will be the docent for the evening as WFI supporters are invited to view exhibit Auktion 392: Reclaiming the Galerie Stern, Düsseldorf.
Max Stern’s Düsseldorf gallery exhibition addresses the issues of Nazi looted art and the on-going restitution efforts by the courts in America and Europe for works forcibly sold at the instruction of the Nazi regime. The exhibition is constructed in three phases that tell the intertwined stories of the Stern family and Max Stern’s doomed struggle to save his art gallery and collection; the forced auction (including a reconstruction of the auction environment with more than fifty images of the sold lots); and finally the restitution of Nazi looted art, alongside current progress of the Max Stern art restitution project.
RSVP is required to RSVPNorthFL@jnf.org or 800-211-1502. For more information about this event and other events taking place in the Orlando area, please contact Laura Abramson at labramson@jnf.org or 800.211.1502.
