Obituary - CHARLES B. SIGAL

Charles Sigal of Statesboro, Ga., and Charleston, S.C., passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, in Statesboro. He was 71 years old.

An Orlando native, Mr. Sigal, “Charlie,” was born on Nov. 15, 1942, to the late Frank and Sarah Brecker Sigal. Immediately following high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for eight years, earning numerous medals and commendations. While in the service, he met the former Diana Burckhardt, whom he married in 1970 in Tampa. Following his discharge, he became a manufacturer’s rep in the food industry.

He and Diana lived on Long Island and South Carolina, among other places, during his career. As a result of injuries he sustained during the Viet Nam Era, their dreams of an active retirement were cut short as Charlie’s health deteriorated.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Diana; his brother, Roland, of Daytona Beach; and his father-in-law, Dale Burke (Joann) of Spartanburg. Graveside services, with full military honors, were held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. The family requests memorial contributions to Homes for Heroes Foundation, 9210 W Broadway Ave., Suite 615, Minneapolis MN 55445.

Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Orlando.
