Florence “Flo” Berk of Longwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Village on the Green in Longwood. She was 100 years old. Mrs. Berk was born on March 20, 1914, in Philadelphia to the late Max and Jennie Rubin Jacobs. At a time when very few women even earned a college degree, Mrs. Berk earned her master’s in education and became a teacher.
On Aug. 16, 1936, in Philadelphia, she married Albert Berk. They were married for 64 years when he passed away in 2000. A wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she regaled each generation with stories of a life well lived.
Mrs. Berk is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dewey) Deloach of Orlando; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at CRJ Cemetery with Cantor Jacqueline Rawiszer officiating.
