Young Jewish-Mexican piano virtuoso performs at Bob Carr

The Mexican Consulate and Casa de Mexico will host an event with Jewish-Mexican piano virtuoso Daniela Liebman playing with the Orlando Philharmonic on Sept. 6 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.

Liebman, only 12 years of age, has literally conquered the most important stages throughout the world having performed in Mexico, the United States, Europe and Asia. Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, she started her musical studies at the age of 3 with her father Rob Liebman, classical violinist by profession, two years later she started her training with Raquel Gonzales. Then at the age of 11 she began training with Dr. Tomas Ungar, with whom she still trains.

When Liebman was only 7 years old, she performed in the first National competition in Monterey, Mexico. In 2011 she won first prize at the International Contest “Noche in Madrid,” in Spain representing Mexico. In 2012 she also won first prize at the Russian International Piano Competition in San Jose, California, thus becoming the first Latin American winner.

In 2013, Liebman performed before an audience of 10,000 people at the Lang Lang concert in Berlin, Germany where 22 countries were represented. Again, she took first place.

Liebman has been the youngest soloist in the history of Mexico playing with an orchestra. One of her most distinguished performances was at Carnegie Hall in New York City in October 2013. Her debut this year was at the renowned Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico. She shared the stage in Mexico City and Germany with the acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Liebman will be performing with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra on Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. For information or to purchase discounted tickets please contact contacting Blanquita Trabold at Casa de Mexico at: 407-420-6896

This is an event benefiting Mexican families in Central Florida in need of educational or medical aid.
