Saturday Night Out: Candyland—Be IN the game of Candyland at the JCC’s Jack and Lee Rosen campus where adventureous folks can have a sugar high and fun doing many activites that involve candy. Also a pizza dinner and movie to end the night. Time: from 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Cost: $30 first child, $20 second child, third child free. JCC members receive $5 off per child. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14

Opening reception for Hateful Things exhibit—Part of the Civil Rights programs sponsored by HMREC. Special speaker will be Dr. Marvin Newman, a retired member of the faculty at Rollins College where he taught for 50 years. He will share his personal experiences dealing with prejudices and bigotry, and the lessons that can be learned from this past.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15

Israeli Folk Dancing—7-7:30 p.m. beginners, 7:30-8:15 p.m. instruction, 8:15-10 p.m., requests. Cost: Free for JCC members, $5 nonmembers. Info: 407-645-5933.

Exhibits: Hateful Things—The Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center exhibits THEM/Hateful Things from the Jim Crown Museum of Racist Memoriabilia. A sampling of racist objects and images that remind us of the power of the propaganda of everyday objects. Exhibit runs through Dec. 15. The Center is open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m .; Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p. There is no admission charge.

Learn Hebrew—Enroll in summer classes and learn to read Hebrew offered by Chabad Lubavitch of North Orlando, 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at 39 Skyline Dr., Suite 1017 in Lake Mary. This is a 10-week course, taught by Akiva Anderson. Cost $36, which covers all textbooks. The course is targeted for beginners and those who wish to brush up on their reading. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

A Bissel Yiddish—Classes in Yiddish the third Thursday of each month led by Joan Pohl and sponsored by the Jewish Pavilion, held at Chambrel in Longwood, 10:30 a.m. At the end of each lesson, students sing Yiddish songs, accompanied by Mimi Shader on piano. Info: 407-678-9363.

JFS Orlando’s Pantry to Plate: A Chef’s Challenge Event—A fun dining event that tests well-known chefs in Central Florida to prepare a four-course dinner by using ingredients found solely in the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry.
