These will be the sounds being heard at the Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando's 11th Annual "Maj Madness" Mah Jongg Tournament to be held Sunday, Jan.25, 2015.
The festivities will begin at 9:15 a.m. with registration and coffee, and the games will begin at 10 a.m. The tournament format will include four rounds following the National Mah Jongg League Official Rules of Play.
Open to people of all playing levels, Maj Madness is $35 per person ($25 for JCC members) and includes lunch, drinks, door prizes, and awards. Participants who are able are encouraged to bring a Mah Jongg set and/or table cover.
Co-chairwomen Julie Levitt and Dale Perreault anticipate a great turnout. "We always look forward to this really fun and competitive day. We love how this is has turned into a multigenerational event and an opportunity to spend time with old and new friends," said Levitt.
"We are so happy that our idea for a little Maj Jongg tournament at the JCC has grown into an event that players really look forward to participating in. We love running into women of all ages in the community who have a love of Maj Jongg and play in the tournament. We are really excited for another year," said Perreault.
