2015 J Ball to honor Kleiman and Lefkowitz families

The Roth Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando is honoring Ed and Susie Kleiman and Howard and Pearl Lefkowitz and their families in recognition of their decades of commitment and support of the JCC and the Orlando community at its annual J Ball gala on Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at the Rosen Plaza Hotel.

"Over the years, these two families have been actively involved at the JCC," said David Wayne, executive director. "From helping getting the JCC get started in 1973 to participating in many activities, including sending their children and now grandchildren to the Richard S. Adler Early Childhood Learning Center, they have played a significant role in our efforts to serve as a community hub and fulfill our mission of building community, strengthening family life, and promoting Jewish values."

"We've learned that involvement at the JCC anchored our life in Orlando and still continues to enrich our lives, the lives of our children, and now, our grandchildren," said honoree Susie Kleiman. "The programs available continue to enrich, teach, and provide pride and ownership of our families Jewish identity and no other agency exists that ties so many families together as one."

Howard Lefkowitz agreed. "Pearl and I believe that every Jewish organization has a place in development of Jewish identification. The JCC is one of the most significant influences of promotion and cultivation of Jewish identity for children, the evolution of Jewish community relationships between young adults and young married families, and provides support for many different age and group needs within the Jewish community."

"The J Ball is always a fun-filled evening and, this year, will include fabulous food from around the world, amazing auction items, extraordinary entertainment and provides a great social atmosphere for friends to gather and celebrate," Wayne said.

All proceeds from the J Ball support the JCC's programs and operations as well as the Marvin and Bonnie Friedman Scholarship Fund which provides nearly $150,000 annually in financial assistance to families in need to allow them to participate in our award-winning preschool, after school, and summer camp programs.

Those interested in supporting the J Ball, through volunteering, donating, or providing an auction item should contact David Wayne, executive director, at 407-621-4042 or davidw@orlandojcc.org. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are also available.
