Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
As Purim is around the corner, it’s time once again for the Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation’s (SOJC) annual Purim Carnival, which is happening on Sunday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at SOJC. This annual event has always been fun for the whole family. It’s a time to get together with friends and family, to eat, enjoy the Florida weather, and act like a kid again. After all, acting like a kid is not restricted by actual age. Grandparents, parents, and kids all find the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy the day.
Eating is always a big part of any celebration and this year’s carnival will not disappoint. Besides lots of delicious food there will be Hamantashen for sale.
This year’s carnival will have lots of special happenings to enjoy. One of the most popular booths is the Dunk Tank—come and dunk SOJC’s rabbi and cantor. The kids especially enjoy trying their skills at this booth and everyone gets some big laughs. The Bounce House is back and there is also a costume contest with prizes for the funniest, cutest, and most original.
The most important reason to join in the fun is really just to get together and celebrate the spirit of Purim with family and friends. Everyone is welcome, members and nonmembers alike. For those who have never been to SOJC, please come for a tour of the synagogue.
For more information, please email the staff at office@sojc.org and a member of the Purim committee respond. SOJC is located at 11200 S. Apopka-Vineland Rd., Orlando 32836.
