Obituary - LORY S. LABENSKY

Lory Stouffer Labensky, age 63, of Lake Mary, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at her residence with her family and loved ones by her side. Mrs. Labensky fought a courageous battle with cancer over the past four and a half years. She was born on Aug. 7, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Gilmore and Viola Backus Stouffer. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. It was there, too, that she met her future husband, Larry Labensky.

They were married in 1986, and had two children, David and Rachel. Escaping the frigid weather, the family relocated to the Orlando area in 1993. Mrs. Labensky’s zest for living and life was an inspiration to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs. Labensky was predeceased by her parents, Gilmore and Viola Stouffer, her husband, Larry, and her daughter, Rachel. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David (Dr. Rachel Engle) Labensky; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Stouffer (Barry) Smith; her brother, Danny Stouffer; and brother-in-law, Steven Labensky; her best friend, Betty Boyer, and a host of other cherished family and friends.

Funeral services were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism with Rabbi Steven Engel and Cantor Jacqueline Menaker officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Palm Cemetery in Winter Park. In memory of Lory Labensky, the family requests contributions to Rachel’s Fund at Florida Hospital Foundation, 550 E. Rollins Street, 6th Floor, Orlando FL 32803. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
