In late March Julie Levitt of Orlando hosted a Passover seder for somewhere between 10 and 50 guests. Like most experienced hostesses, she prepared the traditional Seder plate, set a festive table, and warmly welcomed guests. And after she finished hosting her first seder, she went on to host 10 additional Passover celebrations in just a few weeks time. Levitt is a part-time area program directors for the Jewish Pavilion, along with Emily Newman, Judy Procell and Gloria Green. These four women support Jewish elders in assisted living and nursing home facilities by coordinating and carrying out Jewish holiday celebrations, cultural events and much more.
This Passover season the program directors hosted more 50 seder meals at elder facilities throughout Greater Orlando. As Orlando has no Jewish home for the elderly, the Pavilion acts as a "mobile Jewish home" with the program directors at its helm.
Levitt has worked with the Jewish Pavilion for the past five years, and does whatever she can to bring a smile to the face of seniors in the 10 homes that she serves, including leading the four questions as the youngest participant at a seder at Horizon Bay in Altamonte Springs.
