Cohen takes on JFGO position

The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando has appointed a new director of Outreach and Engagement. Jennifer Cohen has an extensive history of working with the Jewish community in Central Florida, with an emphasis on programming for children and families. She most recently served as program facilitator for "Arty-Party" at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Maitland. Prior to that she was Young Family Program facilitator for Temple Israel and has been a teacher and marketing manager.

In her new Federation role, Cohen will develop and work with volunteers to implement programs for Our Jewish Orlando/Shalom Families and PJ Library, as well as the Jewish Teen Education Network (JTEN).

Olga Yorish, executive director of the Federation, said Cohen's professional experience will be a great asset as the Federation works to engage young adults and families in the Central Florida Jewish Community.

"Central Florida is an increasingly young and vibrant region, and it is our responsibility to create multiple access points and engagement opportunities for young people." Yorish said. "Jennifer has an innate talent for engaging young people in meaningful Jewish experiences and helping them connect with the Jewish community."

Cohen said her role with the Federation will allow her to incorporate meaningful, multi-generational programs on a wider scale.

"Collaborating with the synagogues and working with the Federation will give me the opportunity to reach even more people in the community who might be less engaged in Jewish life," Cohen said. "I want families to build Jewish memories, and I want to make sure our Federation programs give them something they can take home and incorporate into daily life."
