Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
The joy of the Sabbath will be celebrated on Friday evening, Aug.14, at 7 p.m. at Congregation Beth Sholom in Leesburg with a much-anticipated Kabbalat Shabbat service. Rabbi Karen Allan will lead the service.
When Zoiry Zinger, former violin soloist in the Russian Symphony Orchestra, joins Rabbi/Cantor Karen Allen with her keyboard, the Sabbath will be welcomed with a musical celebration of the Jewish spirit. The program will include a new musical presentation, composed by Rabbi Allen for Zinger, as well as new and traditional melodies for the liturgy.
Zoriy Zinger has performed at Lincoln Center, in programs on television and stage, as well as with popular artists including Ray Charles and Ricky Martin. Rabbi Allen and Mr. Zinger have collaborated in many venues, including three annual concerts benefiting Congregation Beth Sholom.
The Congregation welcomes friends and neighbors in central Florida to this uniquely spiritual form of worship.
A special Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Pam Singer Milkman and Bob Milkman in honor of their marriage will follow. The synagogue is located at 315 North 13th Street in Leesburg, with the entrance on Center Street.
