JFS Orlando Executive Director Eric Geboff is pleased to announce that the organization’s High Holidays Food Drive received more than 3,000 pounds of food and raised over $5,000 to benefit the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry.
JFS Orlando’s High Holidays Food Drive celebrated the Jewish values of tzedakah and tikkun olam by providing food to individuals and families in need.
The food drive ran the entire month of September and raised 3,284 pounds of food and $5,377.60. Paper bags, donated by the Winn-Dixie in Fern Park, were given to local Jewish congregations to fill with non-perishable food items.
“We are so grateful for the support of our local congregations in collecting food and monetary donations for our High Holidays Food Drive,” said Geboff. “This food drive had an incredible outcome and we are pleased to use these donations to feed those who need it most in our community.”
In 2014, JFS Orlando provided nearly 76,000 meals to Central Floridians in need.
Thank you to our partners: Congregation Bet Chaim, Congregation Beth Am, Congregation Ohev Shalom, Congregation of Reform Judaism, The Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando, Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation, Temple Israel, and Temple Shir Shalom.
