Book signing event with best-selling author Kristin Harmel

The Orlando Chapter of Hadassah presents "An Afternoon with Author Kristin Harmel" on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Congregation Ohev Shalom.

Harmel will discuss her global bestseller "The Sweetness of Forgetting" at this book signing event.

Kristin Harmel, an international bestselling novelist whose books have been translated into numerous languages and sold worldwide was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and moved with her family to St. Petersburg, Florida, at the age of 10.

She began her journalism career while a student at Northeast High School with an opinion piece on racism at her school published in the St. Petersburg Times. This led to a job covering sports for the Times. The editor gave her several assignments before meeting her face to face. "Here I was, interviewing all these big sports people. When the editor met me, I looked about 13. He said, 'How old are you?' I said, 'Sixteen. Is that a problem?' And he said, 'No, I guess not. You can write.'"

Kristin graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications.

An internship for People magazine between her junior and senior years in college led to a longtime job as a reporter for the magazine. Kristin's other magazine credits include Ladies' Home Journal, Woman's Day, Travel & Leisure, American Baby, Men's Health, and Runner's World magazines to name a few.

This internationally successful author of eight novels has lived in Paris, Los Angeles, New York, Boston and Miami and now resides in Orlando with her husband, Jason.
