BERNARD “BERNIE” BEHRMAN

Bernie Behrman, age 90, of Longwood, passed away at his residence on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 5, 1925, to the late Abraham and Rose Gran Behrman. Mr. Behrman answered his country’s call and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

On Sept. 6, 1959, in Chicago, he married the former Nancy Bobeng, his wife of nearly 56 years who survives him. Bernie and Nancy relocated to the Orlando area from Chicago in 1973. During his career he worked in retail furniture sales, and Bernie and Nancy belonged to Congregation Ahavas Yisrael.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Heidi (David) Weiss of Ft. Lauderdale, Katie Adler of Ft. Lauderdale and Abra Berman of Longwood; his grandchildren, Molly, Jenny, Harry, and Teddy; and his brother, Sheldon (Annette) Behrman of Chicago.

Graveside funeral services were held at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, with Rabbi Sholom Dubov officiating. The family requests contributions in memory of Bernard “Bernie” Behrman to VITAS Hospice, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland 32751. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando FL 32810.
