Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
Thanks to the support of a generous Central Florida community, Zei Gezunt-Be Healthy began with the return of the popular Chair Exercise class, on Tuesday, April 5, and will continue every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. Twenty-four residents participated in the class that is held in the Kinneret dining room.
Zei Gezunt-Be Healthy is a new program created to ensure that the ongoing health and wellness of the residents is addressed not only through the daily dining program, but also through programs that will educate seniors how to live a healthy lifestyle through exercise; proper diet; personal growth and safety.
The program was developed after the popular Chair Exercise class, conducted by Claudia Lane of Movements for Life, lost its funding to provide the class at Kinneret. The class, which focuses on strength, conditioning and balance, has been a staple on Kinneret's calendar for over 10 years.
At the annual 8 over 80 Honorary Dinner, Kinneret President Geanne Share asked the attendees to help kick off the program by making a donation.
"Thanks to the funds raised, we have not only brought back the chair exercise class, but can now begin to plan a monthly calendar of programs," said Leslie Collin, executive administrator of the Kinneret Council on Aging.
The Kinneret Council on Aging (KCOA) is a non-profit agency that provides ongoing programs and services to residents of Kinneret Apartments, a low income independent living senior facility in downtown Orlando.
