Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
On Sunday, May 15, Murray Toborowsky will give a lecture on Abraham Lincoln and the Jews.
Toborowsky is an experienced history teacher whose passion is researching and teaching on the impact of Jews on American history. He has taught a four-part course on the subject at Temple Israel, CRJ and at his home synagogue in Louisville, Kentucky, and has recently lectured on “Jews in American History” at Rollins College.
This will be Toborowsky’s first lecture in his new series. He will discuss Abraham Lincoln and his Jewish friends and acquaintances and how these connections may have influenced the direction of American history.
Toborowsky will cover such topics as how Lincoln became so friendly with the Jewish community, how and where he met these immigrant Jews, and the influence of his vast knowledge of the Hebrew Bible on his life.
The lecture will be from 4:30 p.m.—6 p.m. and refreshments will be available from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
