Elaine Bloom, age 84, of Altamonte Springs, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. Mrs. Bloom was born in Bronx, New York, on Feb. 14, 1932, to the late Chaim and Ethel Greenberg Steinwurzel. She attended college and became a dental nurse. She was married to her late husband, Kenneth Lionel Bloom, for 46 years when he passed away in 2000.
Mrs. Bloom was a Life Member of Hadassah and volunteered for many years helping children with muscular dystrophy. She was a former member of Congregation of Reform Judaism.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bloom was predeceased by her daughter, Sherry Newman, in 2004. She is survived by her daughter Debra Olsen; grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, and Jesse Olsen, Corey (Marlowe) Newman and Eli (Jennifer) Newman; a great-grandson; and her sister, Rhena Stewart of Boca Raton.
A graveside service was held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery in Gotha with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. The family requests contributions in memory of Elaine Bloom be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, Conn. 06851.
