Obituary - BETTY EVELYN GABAY

Betty E. Gabay, age 89, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Palm Gardens of Tampa Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty was a former resident of Orlando, living at Kinneret until she relocated to the Tampa area in 2015. She was born on November 13, 1926, in Bronx, New York; the only child of Jack and Ida Rabinovitz Gross. She attended college and worked as a bookkeeper in the plumbing industry. In 2003, she and her late husband, Albert, who passed away in 2004, relocated from Ocala where they had originally retired to the Orlando area.

Betty is survived by her family and many friends—daughter Mae (Edward) Butler of Orlando and son Ira (Katherine) Mandelberg of Land O’Lakes FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jared, Adam, Melissa (Brian), Edward, Lauren, Shawn and Emma and by her great-granddaughter, Alexis. A funeral service was held at the Pavilion at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. Interment followed in the cemetery. The family requests contributions in memory of Betty E. Gabay to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, 251 Post Street, Suite 600, San Francisco CA 94108.
