Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
Temple L'Chayim recently held their annual congregational meeting to celebrate the start of their second anniversary in Clermont, Florida. The newly elected Temple L'Chayim Executive Board is led by Jay Kosner, president; Richard Walpow, vice president of Membership Recruitment and Fundraising; Jack Colton, vice president of Internal Communications; Larry Oskin, vice president of External Marketing, PR and Communications; Susan Colton, treasurer and Ruth Baker, secretary; as well as Nathan Axel with Jay Forman as co-founders and executive board advisers. The only area Jewish synagogue with both a rabbi and a cantor, Cantor Isaac Kriger and Rabbi Howard Schwartz remain religious leaders for this Clermont congregation. Vice President Oskin has assembled a modern set of by-laws for Temple L'Chayim to follow the practices of the Union For Reform Judaism requirements, which will soon become enacted.
Temple L'Chayim also launched a new Mavens & Menches Club to specifically help support the local community with special holiday events, fundraising and new membership recruitment programs. The temple membership elected Kriger and Judi Axel as co-presidents; Rene Walpow as vice president and Linda Rovetto as treasurer. M&M Club membership and planning meetings will be held each month.
Temple L'Chayim creates a welcome home for their members and the community, while working to support the principles of Judaism as a profound and positive force for humanity. Temple L'Chayim holds traditional Sabbath services every second and fourth Friday of each month within the Clermont City Center, 620 West Montrose Street in downtown Clermont, Florida 34711. Plans are already underway for the fall High Holiday services in October and the Chanukah Party in December.
