Federation unveils award winners

The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando has announced the winners of its 2016 community leadership awards, to be presented at Federation's Annual Meeting at 7 p.m., Aug. 17, on the Maitland Jewish Community Campus.

Themed "A Meeting of the Minds," the event also will feature "Mentalist to the Stars" Sidney Friedman, who will read minds and perform ESP, telepathy and premonition, among other feats.

Federation will pay tribute to "the great minds of our Jewish community" with the following awards:

• Jerome J. Bornstein Leadership Award: Bruce Gould

• Byron B. Selber Young Leadership Award: Eric Sugarman

• Creative Jewish Programming Award: Our Jewish Orlando steering committee

• Jewish Communal Professional Award: Nancy Ludin

• Community Relations Award: Rabbi David Kay

• Federation SuperMensch Awards: Dr. Edward Zissman and Ryan Lefkowitz

• Recognition of the 2016 Menschen of the Week, who will be inducted into the JFGO Mensch Hall of Fame.

The Heritage Florida Jewish News Human Service Award winner will be announced in next week's edition of The Heritage.
