An artist in the family

Risa and Gil Dombrosky of Fern Park have a very talented artist in their family. Daughter-in-law, Crystal-who is married to their son, Adam-has been a professional artist for over 20 years. Originally from New York, she attended Fiorello LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. She entered her first art show at the age of 18 and received honorable mention.

Since then, she has done commissioned pieces, such as murals, sculptures, landscapes and portraits for corporate executives, local businesses, theme parks and hotels. Her specialty is modern and abstract artwork and she also has a collection of music icons in her portfolio. Shown here is a painting by Crystal of Billy Holiday.

"She once did a mural of the ocean on the bedroom wall for an autistic boy," said Risa. "Looking at the seascape, which includes dolphins that appear three dimensional, keeps him calm."

You can catch her at Lake Mary's Wineart Festival in downtown Lake Mary the first Wednesday of every month," said Gil, who works in the production department at the Heritage.

Crystal has her own business called Crystalartwork Murals and More, and can be contacted at crystalartwork@hotmail.com.
