The Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center will host Holocaust Survivor Abraham Gold at “I Remember: Eyewitnesses to the Holocaust” on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.
Gold had an identical twin and was one of 10 children born and raised in Transylvania (now Romania). After his encampment at Auschwitz, he learned that he was the only surviving member of his family.
His self-published autobiography, “Darkness to Light with Hope,” will be available for sale (cash and checks preferred).
Coming Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. will be Two Regimes exhibit with co-curator Kelly Bowen at its opening reception. She will share the history of this collection, its origins, how it was almost lost and how it came to be the stunning body of work it is today. Bowen will also discuss the process she went through to learn about the history behind the collection, her relationship with the artist and her efforts restoring the artwork.
The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 6, 2017.
On Oct. 20, at 6 p.m., the Holocaust Center will host “Caught Between Hitler and Stalin.” This education forum will examine the various populations that suffered in the bloodlands and how their experiences still shape the world today. Author Alyson Richman will join the Holocaust Book Club via Skype on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. Richman’s book, “The Lost Wife,” will be discussed. “The Lost Wife” explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength of memory.
