Richard A. Gair, age 70, of Longwood, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Florida Hospital-Winter Park. Richard was born in Bronx, New York, on April 9, 1946, to the late Nathan and Miriam Altman Gair. A teacher, he was a graduate of Rowan University in New Jersey, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
Richard and his family relocated to the Orlando area from New Jersey in 2003 and immediately became active at Congregation Beth Am. He was an avid traveler and student, and enjoyed regaling those around him with his stories.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; his sons, Howard of Orlando and Joshua of Altamonte Springs; and his grandson, Jacob of Cherry Hill, N.J. Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Barbra Lynn Gair, in August 2016.
A graveside service was held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Rick Sherwin officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
