Robert I. Weissmann, age 86, of Longwood, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Health. Born in New York on Jan. 7, 1930, to the late Joseph and Margaret Heller Weissmann, he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia College and the Columbia College Law School and became a highly respected attorney. On June 14, 1951, in Manhattan, he married the former Rita Grober, his wife of more than 65 years who survives him. They relocated to the Orlando area from New York in 1995, and became members of Congregation Ohev Shalom.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters, Susan (Jay) Gewolb and Jillian Schnaper; and his son, Richard Wiessmann. He was the proud grandfather of Eitan, Dayna, Sophia, Ethan, Noah, Gabe and Jordan. He was also predeceased by his son, Marc Weissmann in 2004.
A memorial service was held at Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel with Rabbi David Kay of Congregation Ohev Shalom officiating. In memory of Robert I. Weissmann, the family requests contributions to Hadassah or the Jewish National Fund.
