Obituary - SHIRLEY MELTZER

Shirley Meltzer, age 91, of Oakmont at Lake Mary, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Florida Hospital—Altamonte. Born in Bronx, New York, on Jan. 5, 1925, to the late Irving and Rae Silberstang Hertz, she was a homemaker and the widow of the late Jack Meltzer who passed away in 1993.

Shirley and Jack relocated to the Orlando area from New York in 1982 and became members of Congregation Ohev Shalom. She was active in many volunteer pursuits, most recently in the Jewish Pavilion—along with her daughter, Carol Feuerman. Shirley had a wide circle of friends, many dating back to when they moved to Orlando. Of all of her activities and interests, her greatest love was her family—particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Robin Kabat and Carol (Marc) Feuerman; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Joan) Hertz of Long Island, New York.

A funeral service was held at the Pavilion at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Aaron Rubinger officiating. The family requests contributions in memory of Shirley Meltzer to the Jewish Pavilion, 421 Montgomery Road, Suite 131, Altamonte Springs 31714.
