Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice

Casting away their misdeeds to start a new year fresh

The 3rd-5th grade students at the Jewish Academy of Orlando walked to Lake Lily the week between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to participate in its annual Tashlich service. At Tashlich, the students symbolically threw away their misdeeds to begin the New Year renewed. Head of School Alan Rusonik led the Tashlich service. In addition to the students and teachers, many of the Jewish Academy's parents joined in this meaningful program. Participating in Jewish customs and ceremonies such as Tashlich is at the core of the Jewish Academy of Orlando's mission, to instill a love of Jewish values and traditions in our students to ensure a strong Jewish future for our families and our community! What a beautiful way to begin the New Year!
