Marc Homburger Jacobs, son of Dr. Eve Homburger and Brad Jacobs of Maitland, will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, and Saturday, Nov.19, 2016, at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Maitland.
Marc is in the seventh grade at Milwee Middle School in their pre- engineering Magnet Program, where he is a member of the BETA Club, Engineering Club, secretary of the Optimist Club, and plays in Jazz Band as well as Symphonic Band. Marc is a Boy Scout and enjoys reading, playing piano and trombone, basketball and travel.
As a grandchild of Holocaust survivors, Marc's bar mitzvah project is the "Remember Us" program, in which Marc and his classmates receive the name of a child who perished during the Holocaust, and was unable to become a bar/bat mitzvah, keeping the memory of the child alive.
The family looks forward to sharing their simcha with Marc's paternal grandmother, Selma Jacobs of Chevy Chase, Maryland; his aunt and uncle, Trudy and Mitch Orgel of Rockville, Maryland; his cousin, Rachel Orgel of Chevy Chase, Maryland; his cousin, Ann Homburger of Kansas City, Missouri; cousins Debbie and Phil Homburger, and Drew and Liam Homburger of Denver, Colorado. Marc and his family are thankful that family and friends are coming to celebrate with him from Florida, New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Georgia.
