Sylvia Semel, age 89, of Maitland, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 4, 1927, to the late Philip and Ida Schneider Roberts, Sylvia loved life. She loved to dance, entertain and be with friends. She also loved art and founded Gallery 17-92 with her husband of 49 years, Nathan, who preceded her in death. She was a long-time member of Temple Israel, Femme de Coeur, Hadassah and ORT.
Sylvia leaves behind her brother, Dr. Daniel Roberts (Carol) of Rockledge; her son, Gene Semel (Carol) of New Hampshire; and her daughter, Alice Mannette (Marc) of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aidan, Benjamin, Christopher, Ruel and Timothy; and one great-grandson, Oliver. Additionally, Sylvia is survived by her nieces, Courtney, Kathie and Kimberly.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 23, at the Yank Frank Pavilion at Temple Israel Cemetery, Gotha, with Rabbi Joshua Neely officiating. In memory of Sylvia R.
