Scene Around

It warms my heart...

When former POTUS (President of the United States) surprised former VP JOE BIDEN with the Presidential Medal of Freedom "With Distinction," I felt so good.

Joe Biden has always been a favorite of mine. His kindness and caring shines through inspite of the many tragedies he has endured in his life. I want to thank him for his years of service to our country.

Our 44th was the first black president; Our 45th is our first orange (& yellow) president. (Is orange the new black?) But enough about politics!

Remembering Jewish history...

Jan. 27 is the date in 1945 when the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, was liberated by Soviet troops."

I need a good laugh about now...

The next Congregation Ohev Shalom Seniors group will meet on Sunday, February 5th at 2 p.m.

This show looks great and amusing (just what I need, besides the wonderful macadamia cookies!) "Bits and Pieces" Productions will present Professor Mental. It is an astonishing musical magical comedy show, not to be missed! Of course each show is followed by delicious cookies, cakes and beverages (especially my macadamia cookies so don't touch them!)

For further information, contact COS Seniors president, BERNY RAFF at 407-767-6763. For directions to Congregation Ohev Shalom, phone 407-298-4650.

I need another big laugh...

"Getting away with murder can be so much fun... and there's no better proof than the knock-'em-dead hit show that's earned unanimous raves and won the 2014 Tony Award® for Best Musical-"A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder!"

It tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, an heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by eliminating the eight pesky relatives who stand in his way."

This hilarious show opens at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 8 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Feb. 12th with 2 shows on Sat. and Sun.

(Too funny to miss!)

If you need help, take note...

I recently heard from a good friend, THERESA PISSINI. She said she is looking to work at something in our community. Knowing her as I do, I think she is the GREATEST!

Theresa writes: "I am a trusted executive assistant/administrative assistant. I offer excellent interpersonal skills combined with strengths in planning, project management, and organization. I have a willingness and the ability to go 'above & beyond' to ensure excellence.

I respect confidentiality, accept new challenges and effectively multi-task. I act quickly on time-critical issues. I establish rapport and display exceptional resourcefulness."

Theresa would be an asset to any company. She is proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and Publisher. (I know because she has helped me many times.)

You can contact her through me.

A reminder...

On Sunday, Jan. 29, ALAN ROCK, the emcee, reminds us of this special performance: BILL ALLRED and the Rosie O'Grady Good Time Band with special guest, ALLAN VACHE, will be performing at the Altamonte Chapel, 825 East State Road 436, Altamonte Springs.

Jazz lovers, especially. Don't miss it!

One for the road...

It's a lovely Sunday morning and Izzy wakes up, puts on his dressing gown and goes downstairs where his wife Rose is in the kitchen making breakfast.

"So what's for breakfast, dear?" he asks, as he enters the kitchen.

Rose walks over to him and says, "Before I answer that, you've got to make love to me right now."

Thinking it's his lucky day, Izzy does as he's told and makes love to Rose. When it's over, Izzy asks, "Darling, why did you want to make love at this very moment? You've never wanted to do that before."

"Because I'm making you eggs and the egg timer's broken," Rose replies.
