Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
Dear Community Members,
It’s been a challenging few weeks for the Jewish community of Greater Orlando and other Jewish communities, as an individual or individuals have sought to disrupt JCC and Jewish school operations across the nation, attacking the very fabric of Jewish life.
How we respond as a community will demonstrate what kind of community we are.
As the leaders of the organizations on the Maitland Jewish Community Campus, we believe we are strong. We are committed. We are resilient. We are passionate about protecting our shared values and our future.
Today, we ask you to invest in this future by making a generous gift to the newly established Maitland Jewish Community Campus Security Fund. Click here to donate.
While we are seeking funding from many sources, including public and private grants as well as government funding, your personal contribution will be used to implement immediate plans for enhancing our campus security. We can’t share with you many specifics for reasons of security, but we can share that we are increasing our uniformed security, hardening our perimeter and entrances, and enhancing access controls throughout the campus. If you have questions, we welcome you to get in touch with us in person, and we’re happy to share as much information as we can.
We encourage you to share the donation link, http://www.jfgo.org/security, with your friends and family, but we ask that you refrain from discussing details of our campus’ recent events on social media. As you know, those who make high-profile threats do so for the thrill of seeing public reaction, and our experts tell us to avoid engaging in such discussions online.
Now, more than ever, it’s important that we join in solidarity as a community to stand firm against hatred of all kinds. Your contribution will help us to continue protecting the children, members, staff and guests so that all can feel safe while enjoying everything the campus has to offer.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to our community.
B’Shalom,
Keith Dvorchik, CEO, The Roth Family JCC of Greater Orlando
Pam Kancher, Executive Director, HMREC of Florida
Alan Rusonik, Head of School, Jewish Academy of Orlando
Olga Yorish, Executive Director, Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando
