Jay Lipeles, age 78, of Clermont, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017. A native of Bronx, New York, he was born on April 6, 1938, one of three children born to the late Max and Sylvia Kinigstein Lipeles. Jay attended school in New York and earned his master’s degree in aeronautics from Yale University. He relocated to Central Florida in the early 1960s and worked as an engineer at Martin Marietta. Later, he worked for many years as a consulting engineer.
Jay is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Ebanks; and his children, Matt Lipeles of Los Angeles, Calif., and Stewart (Caren) Lipeles of Atherton, Calif. He is also survived by his grandsons, David and Benjamin; his brother Ralph (Enid) Lipeles; and sister, Robin (Bob) Zucker. He was predeceased by his son, Adam.
A graveside funeral service was held at Temple Israel Cemetery, Gotha, with Rabbi Sholom Dubov officiating. Arrangements entrusted Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando.
