Obituary - ROBERT L. GLASSER

Robert L. Glasser passed away on April 7, 2017. Born in New York City, he was 90 years old. The family moved to Miami Beach in 1937. Bob enlisted in the Navy in World War II and after discharge attended the University of Florida. He was chancellor of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity and graduated with a degree in architecture. He practiced architecture in Miami Beach with his brother Leonard. Some Civic activities: president—Miami Beach Jaycees: chairman-Miss Miami Beach Beauty Pageant; national director and international director -Florida Jaycees; president- Miami Beach Young Democrats 1959;

Honors: International Relations—Florida Jaycees 1960; Distinguished Service Award-Miami Beach Jaycees 1961; Outstanding Alumni Service Award—TEP Chapter of University of Florida; Distinguished Alumni Award-National TEP Fraternity 1989.

In 1962, Bob accepted an appointment as director- Building & Grounds Division in the office of Florida’s Secretary of State in Tallahassee. Bob received a special appreciation award from the Florida Senate for services provided.

In 1971 he moved to the Orlando area and was involved with Construction and Development. In 1979, Bob accepted the position of contract administrator with Walt Disney Co. During the last years with Disney he served as senior environmental analyst.

Bob was a member of Temple Israel; The Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Orlando; the American Legion; The USS Bataan CVL-29 Association; and Disney’s Retirement Club—Golden Ears Club.

Bob is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Dr. Gary Glasser (Adele); daughters, Janet Cohen in Atlanta, Maxine (Jeffrey) Giordano in Oak Hill, Virginia; and seven grandchildren: Gus, Jake, Emma, Abe, Bootsie, Isaac, and Gabriel.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to the donor’s favorite charity. Arraignments handled by American Family Funerals & Cremations. Internment at Temple Israel Cemetery.
