Jewish Academy of Orlando 5th grade graduation

On Thursday, May 25, 15 phenomenal students graduated from the 5th grade at the Jewish Academy of Orlando. The ceremony was held in the school's chapel. The program began with the students leading the Shacharit (morning) service and each of the students also read from the Torah. Learning the Torah cantillation (or trope) was part of their 5th-grade Judaic Studies curriculum. The students also reflected back on an amazing year, where they truly excelled in the studies as they prepare for middle school and beyond. Most of the graduates were "lifers" completing six years at the Jewish Academy from kindergarten through 5th grade.

The 15 graduates will be going to some of the best middle schools in the city, both private and public, and the students had a 100 percent acceptance rate at the programs to which they applied.

Head of School Alan Rusonik stated, "We will miss these remarkable young people, and we know that they will hold the academic foundation and Jewish values provided to them at the Jewish Academy in their hearts as they continue on in their studies. We wish all of the students and their families a hearty Mazal Tov on their accomplishments and best of luck in the future endevors!"
