Norman S. Sherwood, age 84, of Poinciana, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Regional Medical Center. A native of New York City, Norman was born on July 21, 1932, to the late Ernest and Lillian Block Sherwood. He attended New York University and received his BA degree from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia and was a urologist. Dr. Sherwood served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Reserves. He moved to Las Vegas where he was the third board certified urologist to practice there. On March 15, 1972, in Las Vegas, he married the former Maxine Traczynski, his wife of more than 45 years who survives him. They relocated to the Orlando area in 1998. For seven years they traveled around the United States in a motorhome.
In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his daughter, Mara (Eli) Katz of New York; and his sons, Roger of Las Vegas and Scott of New York; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service, with military honors, was held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel of Jewish Family Services officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando. 407-599-1180.
