Obituary - SIDNEY MEHR

Sidney Mehr, age 94, of Winter Park, passed away at his residence at the Mayflower, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. A native of New York City, he was born on May 22, 1923, to the late Abe and Minnie Selber Mehr. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, he worked as a program manager for the U.S. government.

On June 16, 1947, in New York, he married the love of his life, the former Minnie Hearn, to whom he was married for 65 years prior to her passing on Jan. 4, 2013. In 1967, they relocated to the Orlando area from Sands Point, N.Y.

The consummate volunteer, he served as chairman of the Winter Park Better Business Bureau and the Central Florida Lemon Law Board.

Mr. Mehr is survived by his daughter, Frances (Larry) Kirby of Winter Springs; his grandchildren, Michelle (Nathan) Weisel and Jennifer Ireland; his great-grandchildren, Caleb and Asher Weisel, and Madison and Greyson Ireland; and his niece, Vicki Mehr.

Funeral services, with military honors, were held at All Faiths Memorial Park in Casselberry, with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel. 640 Lee Road, Orlando, 407-599-1180.
