Keith Dvorchik, CEO of The Roth Family JCC, announced that Jacob "Jake" Silverman has been hired to fill the security director position vacated by Andy Brennan. He will assume his new position on Oct. 3.
Brennan is relocating in the middle of October.
"Andy has been a wonderful addition to our team and we will miss his presence and hope he returns to visit us in Central Florida often," said Dvorchik in a safety update.
Silverman has been in security and law enforcement for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Orlando Police Department, serving as patrol officer, national incident management systems coordinator and technical services officer. He is currently a corporal/master police officer with OPD and handles security and safety for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
Silverman is well equipped to meet any security needs that affect the JCC. He earned his master's degree in Homeland Security from American Military University, and has received the City of Orlando Police Administrative Award of Excellence for his work on a comprehensive "High-Threat Area" manual for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
"We are confident that Jake will be a strong security director who will further strengthen our relationships with local and federal law enforcement agencies in the interest of ensuring that everyone who works, studies and plays on the Maitland campus can do so in the safest environment possible," Dvorchik stated.
