Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
All good things must come to end. Thankfully the monthly musicals at Brookdale Lake Orienta will continue in September. What a wonderful "season" it had been with some of the most wonderful entertainers. Not only did the talent bring such joy to the residents on Sunday afternoons, these artists showed such passion with their music, making it more meaningful.
Stewart Bloom, one of the entertainers as well as monthly volunteers stated, "My performance was heart-felt and I think our seniors knew. We take our commitment to the Jewish Pavilion seriously. Our family feels it's important to give back to the community."
The Jewish Pavilion staff, as well as the entire community, really appreciate both the entertainers and the volunteers to make these monthly afternoons so successful. This past year Brookdale was lucky enough to hear Paul Stenzler, Dana Kaplan, Shirley Michael and her dance troupe, the aforementioned Stewart Bloom, Ilene Miller (aka Lucille Ball), Penny D'Agostino, as well as the Central Florida Community Arts who sent two fabulous singing groups.
A huge thank you to the volunteers that attend every month: Emily and Marty Glickstein, Stewart Bloom, Pat and Barry Rubenstein, Shirley Michael, and Mike Bain.
Brookdale generously donated ice cream sundaes every month, as Bloom baked his delicious brownies.
Plans are already being made for another great year starting in September, with hopes that many of this talent will return again.
Music is of such vital importance to the senior community. Recent studies has revealed that music has the capacity to alleviate stress, evoke powerful memories, instill a sense of vitality, and afford socialization opportunities for senior citizens.
The Jewish Pavilion is always looking for volunteers and great talent. Please call 407-678-9363 if you are interested in helping make a difference.
