John Salomon “Johnny” Blum, age 69, of Winter Garden, passed away peacefully at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019. Johnny was born on Nov. 13, 1949, in Sousa, Dominican Republic, the son of Hella Dora Codik and the late Max Blum, both refugees from Europe. He was the 100th baby born in the Sousa, Dominican Republic colony. The family immigrated to the United States and he became a U.S. Citizen in 1961.
Johnny was the owner/operator of a warehouse equipment company.
On Dec. 28, 1997, in Miami Beach, he married the former Edith Abusch, his wife of nearly 22 years who survives him. They relocated to the Orlando area from Pembroke Pines in 2017.
In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by his mother, Hella of Pompano Beach; his son, Ari (Claudia) Blum of Louisville; and daughter, Cara (Jesse) Cohen of Boca Raton; and Edith’s daughter and son, Sarah Elizabeth Smith and Joshua Warren Smith. He was the proud grandfather of Gabriella, Misha, Charlie, Sadie, Ari (AJ) and Riley. Johnny’s brother, Edward (Ilene) Blum of Boulder, Colorado, also survives him.
Funeral services were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism with Rabbi Steven W. Engel officiating. Burial followed at CRJ Cemetery in Gotha.
