Marvin Bob Blatt (Nachum Baruch ben Yonah v’Rachel Leah), of Orlando, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24th, after complications from cancer treatment. Celebrating his 72nd birthday last Sunday, Oct. 20, he was born in Brooklyn to Jerome “Jerry” Blatt (z”l) and Ruth Koolik Blatt Levine (z”l). In 1970, he married the love of his life, Shelly, while proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. In 1980, they welcomed their son Marc into the family. In 1989, the family moved to South Orlando and were a founding family of the Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation.
Marvin was many things in his life: a published artist, teacher, singer, Disney cast member, published author, doting grandfather, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Shelly; son Marc; daughter-in-law Rachel; sisters, Carol and Stacy; grandchildren—Hannah, Tovah, and Rafi; sisters-in-law—Beverly, Lisa, Lori and Patti; brother-in-law, Jack; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
May his memory be a source of blessing and comfort to all who knew him. Funeral services and interment, with military honors, were held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Orrin Krublit of Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation officiating.
In memory of Marvin Bob Blatt, the family requests contributions be directed to Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation (sojc.org).
