The Kinneret Council on Aging, a nonprofit agency that provides ongoing programs and services to residents of Kinneret Apartments, has announced the honorees for their 2020, 8 over 80 Gala to be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
“This is our community’s premiere event honoring older adults and we are truly inspired by the number of outstanding individuals, who continue to contribute to our community and promote the Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam,” said Lynn Fenster, 8 over 80 chairperson. “This event celebrates the spirit of older adults, honoring their lives and respecting their individuality.”
The honorees for the 2020 event are: Jes Baru, Barney Chepenik, Joan Forino, Elaine Gamson, Harry Lowenstein, Henry Schilowitz, Sandi Solomon, and Harriet Weiss
It is a privilege to recognize these outstanding and dynamic individuals,” said Sharon Weil, executive director of Nonprofit Operations for the Kinneret Council on Aging. “These are active and inspiring individuals who continue to live lives of remarkable achievement, vitality and civic engagement.”
The 8 over 80 honorary dinner will be held in the Delaney Dining Room at Kinneret Apartments and will benefit the KCOA which provides programs and services for residents that are not included in the resident’s monthly rent. These programs include monthly music performances, onsite weekly exercise classes, movie nights, cultural activities and holiday celebrations as well as excursions including trips to local stores and area restaurants. KCOA also continues to fund the popular twice-monthly food pantry, which provides an abundant grocery bag to residents at no cost to them. This program offers an array of healthy foods to residents, many who enjoy cooking their own meals. Currently over 120 residents are participating in this program.
Honor these inspiring older adults by taking out an ad or greeting in our Tribute Book or by becoming a sponsor of the event.
