JAO and PJ Library kids enjoy #beeyourselfie day together

Jewish Academy of Orlando partnered with PJ Library Greater Orlando to bring the community, "#beeyourselfie," a day that celebrated every child's uniqueness. The fun-filled morning started with a story time led by JAO Head of School Alan Rusonik and a "selfie" photo session with JAO's beloved mascot, "Mac the Bee."

Later the families started their exploration of what makes each person unique. Each child was provided a passport. The passport guided families to travel between three different rooms that celebrated different aspects of their own original gifts: #BEEInnovative, #BEEArtistic and #BEEDelicious. In JAO's innovation lab, participants used the makerspace to engineer and build unique projects. The art room was the background for #BEEARTISTIC where children created artistic and personalized picture frames to house their selfies. In the #BEEDelicious room, participants mixed their own unique and delicious trail mix.

"We were delighted to partner with JAO to bring the community a program that celebrates what makes each person unique," said Rebecca Tregerman, director of Outreach and Engagement, Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando. "We look forward to working with JAO for future programs!"
