Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
With all the craziness in the world right now, the Jewish Pavilion is trying to bring love, tradition, and comfort to those who are sheltered in elder-care facilities. Although unable to visit, Pavilion staff and volunteers have been calling and delivering cards, letters, pictures and goodies. The leadership of the Jewish Pavilion is trying to think out of the box for ways to remain in contact with our elders.
One of the things the leadership of the Pavilion has learned is that many residents can get YouTube streamed in their rooms. (Many buildings have their own TV channel.) This being the case, we have begun to provide Shabbat services remotely.
The entire community can help. Please share with us your pictures or videos of Shabbat at your home. This is a wonderful project to do with your children or grandchildren. Just take photos of your Shabbat or better yet, videos. You can show yourselves eating traditional foods, lighting candles, saying barachas etc. You can do a short service of up to 10 minutes. You can play an instrument or sing a song. Whatever you think will make our seniors feel involved will be welcomed.
Shabbat services and family gatherings can be shared on Facebook or email accounting@jewishpaviion.org.
Get creative. The leadership of the Jewish Pavilion can't wait to see what you can do.
