Carole Ann Francis, age 84, of Lake Mary, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living in Lake Mary, on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. Carole was born in Boston on May 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Nathan and Ruth Mezikofsky Loeb. Carole attended Boston area schools and was married to Leonard Francis, her husband of 57 years, when he passed away in 2010. The family relocated to the Orlando area in 1961. Carole was a fashion buyer in women’s retail and a co-owner of Gibbs-Louis, an Orlando landmark for women’s clothing. Following her retirement, she returned to school and became a medical assistant, working for a number of years. She was the loving mother of the late Martin Francis, who passed away in 2018, and Arthur (Nancy) Francis of Sammamish WA. She was grandmother to Leigh Francis of Washington DC , Nicole Francis of Orlando, Amy (Brian) Frey of Seattle, Alex (Afton) Francis of Seattle and Adam (Kat) Francis of Seattle. She had the special joy of being a great-grandmother to Kramer Frey. Carole is also survived by her sister Judy (Gerry) Kaplan of South Florida and was pre-deceased by her brother, Rabbi Mark Loeb. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there will be a private graveside service at Congregation Ohev Shalom Cemetery, with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating.
